The AIS is buzzing

10 June 2016 By ExperienceAIS

The AIS has been a hive of activity over the past few months with sports camp activity increasing as our Australian athletes reach the pointy end of their training schedules.

The Westfield Matildas are holding five camps at the AIS in May and June to boost to their Rio Games preparations having received additional funding assistance from the Australian Sports Commission (ASC) based on the Matildas’ medal-winning potential.

At the men’s Wheelchair basketball camp, the Rollers’ team captain, Brad Ness was hoping to qualify for his fifth Paralympics. Watch video of Brad and the Rollers in training

The Australian Diamonds enjoyed testing out the newly refurbished Netball courts to help prepare for their upcoming series which includes games against South Africa, England and New Zealand.

Later this month, the Australian Opals basketball team will be giving the new Basketball courts a workout, the men’s Volleyball team will be in training and the Synchronised Swimming team will be back for their fourth camp this year.
